The Faith of Jesus vs. Faith in Jesus

There is chronicled in the scriptures a situation where Christ healed a woman who had been suffering with a disease, an issue of blood for twelve years.  By her touch of faith, her healing demonstrates an important spiritual lesson for us in the end-time–faith is the victory.  The bible tells us in Revelation 14:12 when describing the saints whom had victory over the beast, “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”

Meanwhile, inspiration expounds on this woman’s living faith that made her whole: “The wondering crowd that pressed close about Christ realized no accession of vital power. But when the suffering woman put forth her hand to touch Him, believing that she would be made whole, she felt the healing virtue. So in spiritual things. To talk of religion in a casual way, to pray without soul hunger and living faith, avails nothing. A nominal faith in Christ, which accepts Him merely as the Saviour of the world, can never bring healing to the soul. The faith that is unto salvation is not a mere intellectual assent to the truth. He who waits for entire knowledge before he will exercise faith, cannot receive blessing from God. It is not enough to believe about Christ; we must believe in Him. The only faith that will benefit us is that which embraces Him as a personal Saviour; which appropriates His merits to ourselves. Many hold faith as an opinion. Saving faith is a transaction by which those who receive Christ join themselves in covenant relation with God. Genuine faith is life. A living faith means an increase of vigor, a confiding trust, by which the soul becomes a conquering power.”  The Desire of Ages, p. 347

Let us examine how to have the abiding faith of Christ…

The Watchman

The Watchman

In a special sense Seventh-day Adventists have been set in the world as watchmen and light – bearers. To them has been entrusted the last warning for a perishing world. On them is shining wonderful light from the Word of God. They have been given a work of the most solemn import, – the proclamation of the first, second, and third angels’ messages. There is no other work of so great importance. They are to allow nothing else to absorb their attention. Evangelism, p. 119

Words of Life

Reverence should be shown for God’s representatives—for ministers, teachers, and parents who are called to speak and act in His stead. In the respect shown to them He is honored.
