Sunday, A National Day of Prayer

Many have seen Hurricane Harvey crash down upon the state of Texas and Louisiana recently with disastrous results. This is a time when we need to have thoughts of gratitude that we can always petition the throne of God on behalf of those who were severely affected. Following this event we have seen the current update of President Donald J. Trump signing a law for Sunday to be a National Day of Prayer.1Miller, S.A. – The Washington Times – Friday, September 1, 2017

The question we must ask is this: are we a step closer to the prophetic fulfillment of Revelation 13:11-18? This prophecy shows a state power starting out as a “Lamb-like beast.” The word “beast” denotes kingdoms in Bible prophecy (see Daniel 7:23). Thus remarkably describing the United States of America due to its lamb-like characteristics; wherein a lamb is known to describe Jesus Christ in the Bible (John 1:29). Hence, the Lamb-like kingdom IS a Christian nation. Moreover, this Christlike nation makes an “image” to one of the preceding “beasts”, which most Protestant reformers have interpreted from the Bible to be the Roman Catholic Church. This image, which makes up the elements of Protestant America is a mirror reflecting the horrific power which ruled for 1,260 years; consequently producing a deadly combination of the Church and State, i.e. Papal Rome. The question might be asked: is America heading in the same footsteps as Papal Rome? One may also ask: how do we know that this is important when we have seen days of prayer enacted before? Let us examine these questions in our bottom column.

Is the previous legislation by Donald J. Trump an indicator that the “wall” isn’t being built as Pope Francis demanded?

Thomas Jefferson, stated to the Danbury Baptist Church in 1802 the following, “I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,ʺ thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.”2Jefferson, Thomas. “Letter to the Danbury Baptist Association.”

This is the only true wall which needs to be built in our age. Yet why do we see it crumbling down? Why is it that our President promised to give power back to the churches?3Jones, Susan. CNS News – August 12, 2016 Accessed 02 September. 2017.
Could this be an exaltation of Sunday by men whom may be sincere in all their desires, yet causing America to make a mirror to what they fled from — Romanism?

Pope Francis stated, that Christians should not build walls.4Associated Press – Catholic Herald – Wednesday, 8 Feb 2017. Accessed 02 Sept. 2017. God shows us in His Word that “wisdom is double.” Job 11:6.

Also, “first the natural then the spiritual.” 1 Corinthians 15:46.  It seems likely that this wall is the church and state being broken down in our nation during a time of calamity. The question we must ask ourselves is: are our families going to help build this true wall through our efforts wherever God has placed us?

“In the movements now in progress in the United States to secure for the institutions and usages of the church the support of the state, Protestants are following in the steps of the papists. Nay, more, they are opening the door for the papacy to regain in Protestant America the supremacy which she has lost in the Old World. And that which gives greater significance to this movement is the fact that the principal object contemplated is the enforcement of Sunday observance — a custom which originated with Rome, and which she claims as the sign/mark of her authority – It is the spirit of the papacy—the spirit of conformity to worldly customs, the veneration for human traditions above the commandments of God—that is permeating the Protestant churches and leading them on to do the same work of Sunday exaltation which the Papacy has done before them.”5White, Ellen Gould Harmon. “Liberty of Conscience.” The Great Controversy, Pacific Press Publishing Association, 1911, p. 573.

The question we must ask ourself, would the wall become blurry before it disappeared for good?

Reverence should be shown for God’s representatives—for ministers, teachers, and parents who are called to speak and act in His stead. In the respect shown to them He is honored.
